Admission Requirements

The Doctoral (Ph.D.) Program in Architecture is a research–based program aimed at fundamental studies at the forefront of architecture and the built environment. It is designed to provide thorough training in the theory and practice of architecture and other related fields to architecture. Graduate students are required to take 8 (24 credit hours) courses and submit a Ph.D. Dissertation to complete the Ph.D. Program in Architecture.

The candidates for admission to the Doctoral (Ph.D.) Program in Architecture should have an M.S. in Architecture or an equivalent degree in a relevant discipline. The candidates must satisfy the requirements of the Institute of Graduate Studies and Research of the university as well as the Departmental requirements. Candidates are required to apply to the Registrar’s Office by completing and submitting the Application Form for Graduate Studies’ attaching to it necessary documents specified in the application form within the dates of application announced.

Documents needed to apply to the programs offered by the Department of Architecture

In addition to the documents specified in the application form, the Department of Architecture also requires:

  • A Portfolio (Content of the Portfolio includes a few research and architectural projects produced in the undergraduate courses and other professional skills and performance),
  • A curriculum vitae (CV),
  • Reference Letter(s) or names,
  • A Copy of the Last Diploma,
  • A Transcript of master study,
  • A topic area description containing: a short literature review with references, a research problem, a research objective, a short description of methodology, selected bibliography,
  • Master thesis title and abstract,
  • Scientific publication (if any).
